Operations Engineer
We are currently seeking an Operations Engineer to join our team. The Operations Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure that Vesta’s products and systems are healthy and stable.
- Serve as an escalation point for customer care of existing products.
- Monitor nightly data feeds and report generation to ensure we meet SLAs with internal/external customers.
- Provide first line support to call center and first response to production system events.
Key Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support Worldwide IT Production operations during off hours shift (11PM PDT to 8AM PDT).
- Maintain and update production run books, application specifications, and other support documentation for functionality deliverables from support organizations.
- Monitor applications with external vendors/suppliers of payment/information services and products that enable payment service.
- Ability to balance daily priorities between Production System events, Partner Escalations, and reporting duties in a generally non-supervised environment.
- Develop and manage trending data on various system components and tasks.
- Research error messages and manipulate tasks as needed to ensure smooth operation during process failure. Escalate to 2nd level engineers as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues in a Windows Enterprise environment.
- Monitor data feeds and ensure nightly jobs run within the SLA for internal & external customers.
- Generate daily status updates on new, current, and on-going issues.
- Understand and follow departmental procedures in regards to changes, information/service requests, and internal escalation.
- Identifies hardware and software malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action as necessary to resolve operating problems.
Education and/or Experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- 2-year degree from technical institution or equivalent industry experience
- 1-2 years’ experience with SQL or equivalent certification
- Experience with Microsoft Windows support, including XP Professional and 2000/2003 Server
- Experience with Microsoft Office/SharePoint suite (Word, Excel, OneNote, etc.)
- Log/code analysis skills
The Operations Engineer is a full-time position based in Portland, Oregon.
