Voice Systems Engineer
About the Job
The Voice Systems Engineer is responsible for using a variety of communication technologies to support a 24x7x365 call center environment. The Voice Systems Engineer understands and strives to fulfill Vestas goals and objectives, and performs in compliance with company standards for performance by executing the following duties:
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, support and operation of telecommunication systems
- System administration of the IVR and ACD infrastructure in the call center
- Participation in on-call technical support for the Vesta production environment
- Various scripting and system programming to support needs of call center
Education and/or Experience
- 5+ years of Avaya Enterprise PBX administration, with a focus on SIP and ISDN
- 5+ years Linux administration; application server support in medium to large companies preferred
- Perl and Shell scripting
- Unix command line
- Installation by replication in a Linux environment
- Network troubleshooting (tcp/ip, routing, firewalls, etc)
- DNS administration (bind, named, etc)
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team as projects dictate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional experience in the following is desirable, but not required:
- JBOSS, Tomcat or other J2EE application server administration, deployment & support
- Debian Linux administration, packaging
- Data driven web development experience (i.e. SQL, J2EE, php, perl cgi, or other dynamic web development method)
- Call center or telecommunications support experience
- Configuring and maintaining Session Border Controllers
- Voice architecture experience in an MPLS environment
- Open source voice platforms such as FreeSwitch or Asterisk
The Voice Systems Engineer is a full-time position based in Portland, Oregon. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Candidates will be required to
sign a strict confidentiality agreement and be willing to undergo an extensive background
